LG Electronics and US chipmaker Freescale have inked a deal to jointly develop ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) for driverless cars, reported the Korea Herald on October 7. Under the partnership, LG will leverage its experience in camera systems, computer vision algorithms, and electronics technologies while Freescale will develop improved processors based on LG's cameras. In addition, LG will transfer technologies from home appliances and mobile communications into automotive components. By sharing vision processing solutions and automotive safety technologies, both companies expect to take ADAS applications to the next level.
